Patient Billing, Guarantor, Insurance & History Storage All the patient’s bill and insurance information can be stored.  The information can then be used for patient, account or insurance billing.  It can also be printed on the order requisitions and billing summary reports.
Order Entry Features
Specimen Order Entry

Storage of patient’s orders allows you to enter them once, then just change any outdate info.  It also allows you to view a patients order history and retrieve cumulative reports and graphs.

Specimen Notes Non-printing notes are for lab/office use only.  They do not appear on patient reports, so you can store important information about the order, that is specific to your lab.  Printing notes do.  This assures that the patient’s physician knows all there is about the patient and the order.
Medical Necessity Checking Helps make sure that your lab/office is OIG compliant.  It also reduces the possibility that you will not be reimbursed for a procedure you have ordered and paid for.
Procedure Diagnosis Association Associates every procedure ordered to a patient’s diagnosis.  This helps you comply with Medicare/Medicaid rules in the event you are audited.
Barcode Labels Labels allow your lab to order a sample, stick the label to the tube, put the tube on the analyzer, and press go.  It gives a positive sample id.  Reduces the possibility of a mistake in identification.  Can be used with or without instrument interfaces.
Requisitions You can print requisitions when ordering procedures.  Many options allow you to include procedure CPT codes, fees, and billing information.  The requisitions can be given to the patient  to bring to the lab, or another physician, or kept for internal use or billing purposes.
Standing Orders
Enter and Maintain Standing Orders Standing orders allow you to enter one order and specify how often, and for how long, the patient is to return for testing.  The order can then be automatically entered, saving you time and frustration.  No more looking for orders.
Automatic Reminders of Orders Due The system can automatically remind you when orders are due.  You can then place all the orders, or print the list to wait for the patients to arrive.
Over Due Lists eLab can produce lists of standing orders that are over due or are on an “as needed” schedule.  This can assist the lab and the physician in monitoring your patients needs.
Test Result Editing
Off-line Data/Result/Comment Entry Enter all your lab results, even those done manually, or from analyzers you do not have interfaced.  You can also enter a comment for each and every result in the order.  You can free text the comment, pick a comment from the comment data file that you design, or enter a quick pre-defined comment.
Off-line Double Data Entry

Double entry of off-line results helps assure against typing errors.  You must enter the same result twice in a row or the new result will not be entered.

Action Log \ Audit Trail

Every time a result is manually changed in the order, an entry is made into the action log to audit the change and make a record of who made it, when it was made, and what the change was.

Reflex Test Ordering

Does your lab automatically order a direct bilirubin if the total is too high, or an A1C if the glucose is too high?  eLab will do that for you.  It will also send the new order to the analyzer interface, if it is interfaced.

Result Reporting
Many Formats of Standard Patient Reports Different formats for header, body and footer of your patient reports allows you to customize the report to your needs.
Cumulative Reporting Gives you a cumulative or a “historical” view of any test results.  Allows the physician to track the results to monitor the progress of a patient, without flipping back and forth through the patient’s paper, or even electronic chart.
Graphical Cumulative Reports Gives the physician the same data as a normal cumulative, but more results (the last 20) and in an easy to read graph format along with normal ranges.
Single/Batch Report Printing Patient reports may be batch printed later in the day when things are less busy or during the overnight period.
Urine Culture Reporting Special editing screens allows you to chart the urine culture reports.  eLab will store up to 3 organisms for each culture, along with a note, the sensitivity panel drugs and results.  It will also store the gram stain and chemical test results.
