Northern Software has been helping to make the life of the medical technologist easier since 1984, which gives us the experience needed to solve your laboratory’s information needs. Whether your lab is hospital or clinic based, belongs to a physician group practice, is a specialized reference lab, or even if you specialize in veterinary samples, we have the software to make your life and work easier.

Northern Software was founded by a medical technologist just trying to write a program to help his lab do their workload recording reports faster and easier.  Northern began to market the workload recording program in 1984.

Northern then moved forward and started building a Laboratory Information System.  The first basic system did little more than store manually entered test results and printed a nice, professional looking Result report.  As the years went by, we added instrument interfaces and more features, moved from DOS to the Windows platform, added reference lab and EMR interfaces.

Twenty-five years later, Northern is still updating the eLab system, still adding more features, and working on a total rebuild to gaurantee that eLab.Sys will be compatible with future Windows versions far into the future.
